The US Dollar depreciated against the Canadian Dollar, following the Canadian CPI data release on Wednesday at 12:30 GMT. The USD/CAD exchange currency rate lost 17 pips or 0.13% after the release. The Greenback continued trading at the 1.3110 level against the Loonie after the release.
Statistics Canada released the Canadian CPI data, which came out in line with the expectations of negative 0.1%.
According to the official release: "The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.5% on a year-over-year basis in September, up from a 0.1% increase in August. Excluding gasoline, the CPI rose 1.0% in September, following a 0.6% increase in August. The acceleration in the CPI was largely due to price changes in the transportation, recreation, education and reading, and shelter components. Year over year, the decline in gasoline prices (-10.7%) in September was comparable to the 11.1% decrease in August, while food price growth (+1.6%) slowed slightly compared with last month (+1.8%)."
