During Tuesday, August 13, the US Dollar appreciated 148 pips or 1.41% against the Japanese Yen. Note, that the Greenback also appreciated against other major currencies.
The reason for this advance was the announcement by the United States Trade Representative about delaying the imposition of additional tariffs on particular Chinese-made products. These products include cellphones, laptops, video game consoles and some clothing products. The deadline for the delay is December 15.
Moreover, the USTR reported that some products were cut from the new China tariff list, citing "health, safety, national security" factors. The US and China representatives agreed to restart trade talks in two weeks.
