The Dow Jones Industrial Average Index inched down by 0.39% to close at 13,254.29 on Monday. High risk aversion ahead of the German Constitutional Court ruling coupled with weak state of the US labour market weighted down on the US blue chips index. Only two in nine economic sectors included in the index eased up. The top-gainer was health care sector, with Johnson & Johnson and Merck &Co climbing 0.44% and 0.48%. On the upside was also Kraft Foods, adding 0.50% on news that the firm agreed to pay USD150 million to purchase 50% stake in Bimo, Morocco's biscuit producers. The deal would raise Kraft stake in Bimo to 100%. McDonald's Corp also rose as sales in some stores increased but missed forecast in August. Shares of McDonald's Corp gained 0.31%. Sending the Dow Jones index lower, industrials tumbled 1.65%. Boeing, Caterpillar and 3M slid 2.48%, 1.14% and 2.32%, respectively.
