Spain's unemployment hits 22.8%

The number of unemployed in Spain surpassed five millions in the Q4 of 2011, according to the National Statistics Institute. The total number of individuals without job attained 5.3 million in Q4 as compared to 4.9 million in the preceding quarter. The unemployment rate hit a 17-year high of 22.8% as compared to Euro Zone's average of 10.3%. Almost half of young people aged between 16 and 24 are out of work. Analysts expect the country to fall back in downturn.
