U.K. stocks advance to their highest in five years

U.K. shares kept advancing on Wednesday, remaining at its five year high on positive data about U.S. private payrolls that beat the estimates. The FTSE 100 Index soared 0.3%, or 15.27 points, to 6,447.18. All except one sector edged higher in the index with basic materials posting the biggest gains. Vodafone Group Plc. rallied 6.4%, the most in four years on news Verizon Communication Inc. is willing to resolve its relationship with carrier. Furthermore, John Wood Group added 5.1% to pace gains in the oil and gas sector that was 1% up, while Admiral Group Plc led gains in financial shares that rose 1.02%. The company climbed 4.8% to its highest in 17 months after report showed its full-year profit was better than forecast. On the downside, Kazakhmys Plc was the top loser, as it erased nearly 4% and capped further gains in the best performing basic materials group that was 2.8% higher.
