Dow advances as HP posts strong revenue results

U.S. stocks rose on Friday, as comments from the officials of Federal Reserve downplayed concerns over ending the growth-boosting activities. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rallied 0.86% to close at 14,000.57. All but one group in the benchmark index advanced. Hewlett-Packard gave a strong boost for the Dow after posting higher-than-expected revenue. Coca-Cola Co climbed 2.2% to $38.52 and lifted consumer goods sector that was 0.66% up. Home Depot Inc. followed with a 1.9% rally to $65.58 at its close after the U.S. home- improvement retailer was upgraded by Oppenheimer & Co.'s Brian Nagel from market perform to outperform, as he said the positive housing trends will have a positive impact on the stock. Alongside to that, UnitedHealth Group paired biggest losses among all blue chips, down 1.4%, dragging down the health care sector that was 0.5% down. Johnson & Johnson followed with a 0.8% decrease.
