Dow extends its highest level since 2008

U.K. shares climbed, with the FTSE 100 index extending its highest level in four years after a report showed durable goods in the U.S. increased at a faster pace than estimated by economists. The FTSE 100 advanced 0.2%, or 13.1 points, to 6,297.5. The gauge has rallied 6.8% so far this year. Five out of ten groups in the gauge edged higher with financials posting biggest gains. Rexam Plc., a manufacturer and distributor of packaging materials, jumped the most in the gauge by 11.1% to cap further losses in industrial shares that were 0.43% down. Furthermore, Barclays Plc., a global financial services provider, rallied as much as 2% and lifted financial shares that were 0.82% higher, followed by Aberdeen Asset Management that also contributed to financials by jumping 1.4%. Alongside to that, Evraz paired biggest losses in the index as its stocks fell 2.2% and dragged down basic materials shares that decreased 0.4%. Furthermore, Fresnillo, a silver and gold mining and exploration company, erased 1.9% and also triggered a decline in basic materials.
