Labour cash earnings in Japan fell for a third successive month in November, according to data from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare on Friday. Total labour cash earnings dropped 1.1% on an annual basis in November, following a 0.4% decline in October and 0.5% fall in September. Contractual cash earnings increased 0.3% after a 0.3% drop in a month earlier. Regular pay increased 0.5% year-on-year, whereas overtime pay declined 1.3%.

"Today's data confirmed that the economy remained on a downward trend and this could be a reason for the government to adopt an expansionary fiscal policy," said Takeshi Minami, Chief Economist at Norinchukin Research Institute.
