Nikkei 225 surged 0.76% or 67.03 points and finished at 8,876.82 Car makers supported the index with Honda Motors jumping 3.3% after unexpectedly reporting gains in US market. Nomura Holdings jumped 7.1% after publishing an unpredicted quarterly profit on asset sales. Sharp Corp. fell 16% after predicting record loss on Aquos televisions.
