Asian stocks advance ahead of Fed's meeting

Asian stocks advanced before the Fed's policy meeting and as a progress in the U.S. "fiscal cliff" talks is awaited. The MSCI Asia Pacific Excluding Japan Index rose 0.2% to 459.95, poising for the highest close since August 2011. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 Index added 0.4% and South Korea's Kopsi Index gained 0.1%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index advanced 0.2%, while Japan's Nikkei 225 Stock Average slid 0.3%.
