U.S. economy adds 119,000 jobs; factory orders decline

"Employment growth is slowing"

The number of Americans, who have found a job in the private sector fell to 119,000 in April from a revised 201,000 in March, the ADP Employer Services said on Wednesday.

"Employment growth is slowing," said David Sloan, an economist at 4Cast Inc. in New York. "The economy is growing at a fairly slow pace, though it's sustainable."

Also Wednesday, the Commerce Department said U.S. factory orders fell 1.5 per cent in March, after increasing 1.1 per cent in February.

"Manufacturing is still leading the recovery," said Gus Faucher, a senior economist at PNC Financial Services Group Inc. in Philadelphia. "Businesses are going to continue to invest. The manufacturing sector is going to continue to expand."
