Energy commodities edged up on Thursday despite persistent demand concerns amid faltering global economy. At the same time, positive US labour market data and dip buying supported the commodity group.

Crude oil continued to draw strength from larger than expected drop in US inventories last week. Meanwhile, market players were cautious ahead of China's quarterly GDP data due on Friday.

Brent oil climbed 0.84% on slight support from recent supply disruption from Norway and launch of total Iranian oil embargo.

Natural gas closed on the positive note despite sharp fall during the US morning trade after EIA supply report. The EIA stated that US natural gas inventories increased more than expected last week.

Heating oil inched up 0.42%, being buoyed by Wednesday's US supply report; US distillate fuel inventories increased less than expected last week.
