U.K. equities rise as Italy's debt sale reaches the maximum target

Most U.K. blue chips rose on Wednesday after the Italian debt sales achieved the maximum target and U.S. durable goods data topped the analysts' estimates. The FTSE 100 Index advanced 0.4%, or 23.33 points, at 16:52 p.m. in London. All but one sector edged higher. Weir Group Plc. was the top performer, as it climbed 6% to pace gains in industrial shares that were 0.9% up. Melrose Industries Plc., an international engineering group, followed with a 3% rise to also support industrials. Among best performers was also the insurance company Prudential Plc., as it jumped 2.2% and led gains in financials that were 0.8% higher. On the downside, Petrofac Ltd paired biggest losses in the index, as it erased 8% after its sales revenue missed the forecasts. Furthermore, Intu Properties Plc. followed with a 3% drop, capping further increase in financial sector.
