US Retail Sales impact market

The publication of the monthly US Retail Sales data has caused a market move. In general, Retail Sales have slightly increased not declined, which indicates that the US Fed can keep policy tighter for longer. The data release has caused a slight surge of the value of the US Dollar.

The Retail Sales and Core Retail Sales which exclude auto sales both have increased by 0.1%. However, the market consensus was that the Core sales will increase by 0.2%, but the overall sales will decrease by -0.2%. The lower core reading is offset by the positive overall data.
