The US Dollar traded sideways against the Canadian Dollar, following the Canadian CPI data release on Wednesday at 12:30 GMT. The USD/CAD exchange currency rate gained 3 pips or 0.02% after the release. The Greenback continued trading at the 1.3890 level against the Canadian Dollar after the release.
Statistics Canada released the Canadian CPI data, which came out worse-than-expected of negative 0.7% compared with the forecast of negative 0.6%.
According to the official release: "The Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell 0.2% on a year-over-year basis in April, down from a 0.9% gain in March. This was the first year-over-year decline in the CPI since September 2009. The CPI declined as energy prices fell as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic."
