The US Dollar appreciated against the Canadian Dollar, following the Canadian GDP release on Monday at 13:30 GMT. The USD/CAD exchange currency rate gained 13 pips or 0.09% right after the release. The Greenback continued trading at the 1.169 level against the Canadian Dollar.
Statistics Canada released the Canadian GDP data, which came out worse-than-expected of negative 0.1% compared with the forecast of 0.1%.
According to the official release: "Real gross domestic product edged down 0.1% in October, the first decline in eight months. Goods-producing industries were down 0.5%, the second consecutive monthly decline. Services-producing industries were essentially unchanged as increases in most sectors compensated for declines in wholesale trade and retail trade. Overall, 13 of 20 industrial sectors posted increases in October."
