The US Dollar appreciated against the Canadian Dollar, following the Canadian Employment data set release on Friday at 13:30 GMT. The USD/CAD exchange currency rate gained 61 pips or 0.46% right after the release. The Greenback continued trading at the 1.3250 level against the Canadian Dollar.
Statistics Canada released the Canadian Employment Change data, which came out worse-than-expected of negative 71.2K compared with the forecast of 10.0K. Note that the US Employment data set was released at the same time.
According to the official release: "Declines in employment were recorded both in the goods-producing sector, specifically in manufacturing and natural resources, as well as in the services-producing sector, notably in public administration. The number of private-sector employees was down, while self-employment and public-sector employment held steady."
