The US Dollar appreciated against the Canadian Dollar, following the Canadian GDP data release on Thursday at 12:30 GMT. The USD/CAD exchange currency rate gained 13 pips or 0.10% right after the release. The Greenback continued trading at the 1.3160 level against the Greenback.
Statistics Canada released the Canadian GDP data, which came out worse-than-expected of 0.1% compared with the forecast of 0.2%.
According to the official release: " Real gross domestic product edged up 0.1% in August, following no change in July. Goods-producing industries were up 0.2% after two months of declines, led by a rebound in manufacturing, while services-producing industries edged up 0.1%. Overall, there were gains in 14 out of 20 industrial sectors. On a three-month rolling average basis, real gross domestic product rose 0.5% in August, compared with a 0.8% increase in July."
