The Australian Dollar depreciated against the US Dollar, following the Australian GDP data release on Wednesday at 01:30 GMT. The AUD/USD exchange currency rate lost 16 pips or 0.23% right after the release. The Aussie continued trading at the 0.7002 level against the Greenback.
Australian Bureau of Statistics released the Australian GDP data, which came out in line with expectations of 0.4%.
According the official release: "The Australian economy grew by 0.4% in seasonally adjusted chain volume terms in the March quarter.Government final consumption expenditure contributed 0.2 percentage points to GDP growth.Net exports contributed 0.2 percentage points to GDP growth driven by an increase in exports. Compensation of employees increased by 1.2%. The terms of trade rose 3.1%."
