French manufacturing weakens despite positive expectations

Activity in the manufacturing sector of France decrease more than expected in January of the current year, as the benchmark PMI Index, which measures the activity level in this sector of country's economy, plummeted to 48.5 points from 49.3 points in January. Experts waited for a rise to 49.6 points. Meanwhile, the reading below 50 points indicates a decline in activity.
