Australia consumer sentiment declines further

Consumer sentiment in Australia registered a decline in January of this year, already for a second consecutive month, pointing on the moderate recovery in the retail sector. A Westpac Index, which measures the sentiment, lost 1.7% to 103.3 points after a 4.8% decline in November. At the same time, the reading above 100 points still indicates that there are more optimists than pessimists.

Brent rises as IEA reports increase in global oil consumption

The European benchmark Brent crude gained on Wednesday trading session after the IEA's report showed that global oil consumption may advance daily by 1.3 million barrels, or 1.4%, to a level of 92.5 million in 2014. Brent for March delivery increased 46 cents to $107.19 per barrel on the London's ICE Futures Europe exchange.
