European share markets open up

European stocks opened higher on Tuesday led by miners. UK's FTSE 100 rallied 1.7% to 5,664.61, catching up gains after yesterdays' bank holiday. Both Stoxx Europe 600 index and German DAX 30 index traded 0.8% higher at 249.04 and 6,125.86 respectively. French CAC 40 index lost 0.3% reaching 3,211.84 as the shares of France Telecom SA fell 1.4%.

Iranian currency sinks against the USD on new sanctions

Iran's currency, the Rial, depreciated against the USD by 12% following the US sanctions aimed at Iran's central bank. The Rial traded at 17,800 to the USD on Monday as compared to 15,900 on Sunday. The US announced it plans to take action aimed against overseas businesses that deal with the central bank of Iran.

Greece may need additional fiscal measures

Greece may need extra fiscal measures to comply with 2011 budget requirements, said the government spokesman. Moreover, the interim government developed 'very specific' measures to pursue the goal of staying in the Euro Zone, the official added.
