Japanese trade surplus expands less-than-expected

According to the data released on Wednesday, Japan's trade surplus grew from 242.8 billion yen reported in February to 775.0 billion yen in March, hitting its highest level since February 2011, yet analysts expected a 834.6 billion yen surplus. Meanwhile, the country's exports dropped 6.8% to 6.5 trillion yen in the same period, slightly surpassing economists' outlook of a 7% fall.
