Since Wednesday, January 29, the Russian Ruble has been depreciating 1.69% or 10570 pips against the US Dollar. Note that the Russian Ruble depreciated against other major currencies as well.

Most likely, the decline was driven by the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova's statement that Russia would restrict railway service with China from January 31 due over coronavirus. According to Golikova, only direct trains between Moscow and Beijing would be left.

Moreover, Russia is planning to extend the closure of its land border with China.
