The US Dollar has been appreciating against the Canadian Dollar since mid-June. The currency pair bounced off the lower boundary of a junior ascending channel on June 14 and has since gained more than 200 base points.
Bulls have pushed the exchange rate up towards the upper boundary of the ascending pattern. However, after reaching the upper border, the pair began to make a corrective move south.
Everything being equal, the USD/CAD currency exchange rate is likely to make a brief retracement south toward a support cluster formed by the combination of the weekly pivot point and the 55-hour simple moving average near the 1.31 mark.
