US shares climb on economic data

US equities traded mixed on Friday. Stock indices were supported by earnings reports on the upside but their gains were limited as the concerns about surging oil prices emerged. Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 0.01% or 1.74 points to 12,982.95, S&P 500 index added 0.17% or 2.28 points and closed at 1,365.74. Nasdaq Composite index soared 0.23% or 6.77 points to 2,963.75.

New Zealand's trade balance narrowed in January

The trade balance of New Zealand narrowed in January, according to Statistics New Zealand. The trade balance declined to minus 199 million New Zealand Dollars on a seasonally adjusted basis in January after hitting 388 million New Zealand Dollars in December. Experts predicted the figure to approach 167 million New Zealand Dollars.
