Global shares slip before potential U.S. government shutdown

Global stocks declined on Monday's session extending their losses after falling from the highest level in five years, while the U.S. Treasuries and the Japanese currency gained as the U.S. government may shut down on Monday for the first time in 17 years. The MSCI All Country World Index dropped 0.6% at 8:23 a.m. London time, whereas the Stoxx Europe 600 Index shrank 0.7%.

Gold rises as U.S. government may shut down

Gold increased on earlier on Monday session to its highest level in more than seven days as it headed for the first quarterly gain since September 2012 amid speculation that the U.S. government may shut down if the Senate rejects the bill. Bullion for delivery in September added 1.3% to $1,354.35 an ounce, its highest level more than a week.
