American shares trade at record levels as consumer confidence surges

American shares surged on Tuesday with regional benchmark index reaching its new all-time high. Hopes that central banks across the globe will stick to their loose monetary policies also boosted U.S. shares. The S&P 500 Index climbed 0.25% to 1,597.57 points as of 4:14 p.m. New York time. Among the best performers, Best Buy Co Inc jumped 7.4% to $25.99, as the company sold its European branch to Carphone Warehouse. The retailer plans to concentrate its business mainly in the U.S. Investco Ltd and Advanced Micro Devices Inc followed with a 6.8% and 5.2% rise to close at $31.74 and $2.82, respectively. Meanwhile, Pitney Bowes Inc slumped 15.6% to $13.67 and Cummins Inc slid 6.1% to $106.39. Additionally, Marathon Petroleum Corp traded 4.9% down to finish at $78.36.

Crop drops on speculation about U.S. harvest

Wheat futures for July settlement edged lower by 1.2% to $7.225 per one bushel on the Chicago Board of Trade in the morning of Singapore trading session on Wednesday. Dow up amid improvement in consumer confidence
