Euro gains on investor confidence report

The Euro rose versus its major counterparts after the Eurozone Sentix investor confidence report posted a lower than expected decline. The Euro traded 1.2363 versus the U.S. Dollar, 1.2015 versus the Swiss Franc, 0.7942 against the Pound and 96.92 versus the Yen. The Eurozone Sentix investor confidence appeared at -30.3 in August after -29.6 in July, while economists awaited the reading to be at -31.0.

Pound falls as home values decline

U.S. stocks jumped on data

U.S. stocks advanced on Friday after four day of losses as the optimism on the Eurozone's debt crisis resolution grew and U.S. non-manufacturing activity jumped in July. The Dow Jones Index soared 1.7 per cent, to 13,098.29; the S&P 500 Index added 1.8 per cent, to 1,389.84, and the Nasdaq Composite jumped 1.9 per cent, to 2,965.29.
