Switzerland's consumer prices rose slightly in April 2026. Overall inflation increased by 0.3% from March and was up 0.6% compared to a year earlier, showing that price growth remains low.The main reason for the monthly increase was higher costs for energy and travel. Fuel prices such as petrol, diesel, and heating oil rose sharply, and international flights and holiday packages also became more expensive. Clothing and footwear prices increased as well.

At the same time, some prices went down, which helped limit overall inflation. Hotels, car rentals, and some food items became cheaper, including products like coffee, fish, and chocolate. The rise in prices was entirely due to more expensive imported goods, while domestic prices actually fell slightly during the month. When excluding volatile items like energy and fresh food, underlying inflation did not increase at all, showing that broader price pressures remain weak.
