Swiss stocks extended losses on Monday.
The Swiss blue-chip index SMI, a measure of the largest and most actively traded companies, declined 0.75%, or 44.85 points, to 5,944.48. The broader Swiss Performance Index fell 0.82%, or 45.71 points, to 5,522.13.
"There have been several meetings, but the market hasn't seen a big decision to resolve the debt problem," said Pierre Mouton, a fund manager at Notz Stucki & Cie. in Geneva.
"Things are in limbo waiting for politicians to act and make a decision."
