U.K. shares up for a fourth consecutive day

U.K. shares surged for a fourth straight day with FTSE 100 Index extending its highest level in five years. The FTSE 100 climbed 0.3%, or 26.51 points, to 6,522.83 by 4:34 p.m. in London. Basic materials posted biggest gain among all ten groups in the gauge, as Kazakhmys  Plc rallied 5.8% for the biggest rise on the benchmark FTSE 100. The natural resources company has fallen 9.1% throughout the last four days. Furthermore, International Consolidated Airlines rose 5.1% to lift industrial shares that were 0.2% up. Furthermore, Anfogasta Plc soared 4%, supporting basic materials after the producer of copper doubled its dividend. On the downside, British Land Co that erased 3% and capped gains in financials on news the real estate investment trust released its plans to raise around 500 million pounds in a stock sell off to cover acquisitions and development. Hammerson Plc followed with a 2% slump.
