S&P 500 moves closer to its record high

U.S. equities extended their gains with the Standard & Poor's Index approaching its record high and market volatility gauge dropping to its lowest since 2007, as lenders edged higher and Apple shares rose. The S&P 500 Index jumped 0.3% to 1,556.22. All but one sector inched higher. Glenworth Financial Inc. surged the most in the gauge on optimism the life insurance and guaranties provider will take advantage of the reviving housing market. The insurer rose 6.7% to $10.50 and lifted financials. Furthermore, Electronic Arts Inc. advanced 3% to close at $19.13 adding to gains in technology shares that were 0.4% up. Ford Motor Company followed with a 2.8% rally to trade at $13.34 by the end of the trading session, as data release on deliveries in China climbed more than 40% throughout January and February. On the downside, Akamai Technologies  Inc. that slid 4.4% to cap gains in technology group.

AUD/USD retests the 20-day SMA

During Friday's trading session the pair sharply dropped to the weekly PP level at 1.0209, but today the pair has already regained its position and even surged above the 20-day SMA, which is currently located at 1.0257.
