U.S. shares jump on Tuesday with Nasdaq topping 4,000

Wall Street shares closed higher on Monday with the benchmark index Dow Jones recording its new high and the Nasdaq topping a level of 4,000 for the first time in a 13-year period to close slightly below that figure. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index slid 0.13% to 1,802.48, while the Dow Jones industrial average added 0.05% to 16,109.63 and the Nasdaq Composite Index climbed 0.07% to 3,994.573.
