S&P 500 down from its record high

Most U.S. blue chips dropped, pushing down the Standard & Poor's 500 index from its seven-day high. Experts say that the market might be tired after setting a record high. The S&P 500 slid 0.2% to 1,552.48 after touching its highest in more than five years yesterday. Seagate Technology jumped nearly 9% to $34.94 for the biggest gain in the benchmark index to cap losses in technology shares. Furthermore, Valero Energy Corporation led gains in the oil and gas sector that was 0.2% up, as is share price increased by 4.2% to trade at $45.55. The shares went down, as the company's Benicia refinery shut a hydrocracker. Western Digital Corporation followed with a 4.1% rally to close at $49.90. On the downside, Red Hat Inc. that slumped as much as 5% to drag down technology shares, as its stock rating was downgraded to neutral from buy at Citigroup on speculation the company lacks sources of new revenue growth.
