Hong Kong stocks gained for the seventh consecutive session on Friday amid mixed data from the US. US employment data disappointed investors while upbeat news from the US manufacturing sector boosted market sentiment. China's FDI dropped by 3.8% in the first nine months of the year, thus weighing down on China's equities. However, the Hang Seng Index managed to add 0.15% to close at 21,551.76. Six out of nine sectors included in the index advanced. The top-performers were oil and gas firms as well as technology companies. CNOOC and PetroChina climbed 1.63% and 0.54% while Tencent rose 0.69%. On the downside were telecommunications and utilities. China mobile retreated 1.28% while Power Assets Holdings and Hong Kong & China Gas dropped 0.77% and 0.10%.
