Services Sector: Output rose 0.4% on the month and 0.6% over the three-month period. Growth was led by administrative and support service activities (up 3.7%) and information and communication (up 2.4%), which was lifted by a 3.5% jump in computer programming and consultancy linked to AI and cloud computing activity. In contrast, wholesale and retail trade dropped 1.0%. Consumer-facing services fell 0.4% in July, driven down by retail declines.
Production Sector: Output edged up 0.2% in July despite a 0.5% contraction over the trailing three months. The monthly rebound was driven by a 0.9% gain in manufacturing—particularly computer, electronic, and optical products (up 5.2%) and pharmaceuticals (up 3.4%)—which offset declines in mining, quarrying (-4.4%), and electricity and gas supply (-1.5%).
Construction Sector: Monthly output rose 0.1% following consecutive monthly declines in May and June, though output fell 0.5% over the three months to July. July's modest growth came entirely from repair and maintenance (+0.8%), especially in private housing, while new construction work fell 0.4%.
