US CPI causes volatility

The US government published the most recent monthly Consumer Price Index data, which revealed that inflation remains persistent. However, the markets expected the data to show an increase of prices.

Due to the mixed signals, the event increased volatility of the US Dollar for more than an hour. After the event, the USD returned to previous levels.

The US month on month inflation hit the target of +0.4% and annual inflation is +6.0%. Meanwhile, monthly core inflation beat the forecast of +0.4% by being revealed to be +0.5%.
