"The demand for manufactured goods is recovering moderately and irregularly, but that recovery has been relatively weak relative to the magnitude of the previous declines"

New orders for U.S. factory orders advanced more than economists forecast in May. New orders for manufactured goods increased 0.7 per cent, said the Commerce Department on Tuesday.
"The demand for manufactured goods is recovering moderately and irregularly, but that recovery has been relatively weak relative to the magnitude of the previous declines," said Steven Wood, chief economist at Insight Economics.
"The sector is going through a weak patch," said analysts at New York-based RDQ Economics. "We think that manufacturing activity, though softer than earlier this year, is still growing but the latest reports have increased uncertainty."
