EUR/JPY trades at high levels

In the expectations of European Central Bank starting monetary tightening the EUR/JPY currency rate hit a new seven-and-half year high level at 144.22. However, prior to the ECB monetary policy statement, the EUR/JPY retraced to the 50-hour simple moving average near 142.85.

If the Euro resumes its surge against the Japanese Yen, the rate should encounter resistance in the 144.00 and 145.00 levels, before approaching the weekly R3 simple pivot point at 145.72. However, note that a fundamental adjustment to the ECB announcement is highly likely set to ignore technical levels.

On the other hand, a decline of the pair could look for support in the combination of the 100-hour simple moving average, weekly S1 simple pivot point and the 142.00 mark in the 141.60/142.00 zone.
