Dow advances on Chinese data

U.S. blue chips advanced on Chinese exports data that beat the analysts' estimates. The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 0.6%, or 80.71 points, to 13,471.22. All but one sector edged higher with financials showing the biggest increase, up 1.1%. Bank of America advanced the most in the gauge by 3.1% to $11.78. The American bank is currently trying to settle the past mortgage turmoil, as it lost the market share in this business to JPMorgan Chase, and now focuses on improving and reshaping its home loan business. Furthermore, Hewlett-Packard shares added 2.7% after report showed the company has posted soft fourth-quarter's sales and is the world's leading PC vendor. Intel Corporation also supported the technology sector, which was 0.45% up, after it released its study on "Women and the Web" discussing the gap between women and men in the developing world. Meanwhile, Alcoa led losses in the basic materials sector, as it shares tumbled 1.2% to $8.97, while Microsoft Corporation erased further gains in the technology sector with its stocks easing 0.9%.

Oil poised for five-week high amid Saudi Production Cut

Oil reached its fifth weekly gain after Saudi Arabia decreased production and investors speculated the recovery of global economy would increase fuel demand. WTI oil for February settlement dropped 2 cents reaching $93.80 a barrel, while futures climbed to $93.82, up 72 cents, the strongest since September. Meanwhile, Brent for February delivery fell to $111.65 a barrel.

Australian Dollar depreciates from a 4-month high on technical signals
