Tesco reported strong sales over the 19 weeks ending 3 January 2026, combining Q3 and Christmas results, with Group like-for-like sales up 2.9%. In the UK, like-for-like sales grew 3.7%, with Tesco reaching its highest market share in over a decade at 29.4% in the final four weeks. Growth was driven by fresh food, which rose 6.6%, and strong sales in the premium Finest range, particularly party food, which grew 22%. Strategic pricing initiatives, including Everyday Low Prices, Aldi Price Match, and Clubcard offers, strengthened value perception. Online sales rose 11.2%, while the rapid delivery service Whoosh grew 47%, adding over 250,000 new customers. Tesco recruited 28,500 temporary colleagues and added 100,000 delivery slots using AI-powered scheduling.



In the Republic of Ireland, like-for-like sales increased 4.6%, supported by fresh food and quality recognition, with market share rising to 24.0% and five new stores opened. Central Europe saw 1.0% like-for-like growth, driven by fresh food, premium products, and online sales up 14.3%. Booker faced a 1.3% decline, mainly due to falling tobacco sales and a contract exit, although core catering grew 2.4% and Best Food Logistics rose 0.6%.

Following the strong performance, Tesco now expects FY 2025/26 adjusted operating profit at the upper end of £2.9–3.1 billion, with free cash flow within £1.4–1.8 billion. The results highlight the impact of value, quality, and digital innovation, with strong fresh and premium offerings, robust online and rapid delivery services, and strategic pricing reinforcing Tesco's market leadership.
