SAP Q1 2026: Cloud Dominance and AI Momentum Drive Double-Digit Growth

SAP's Q1 2026 results signal a definitive and successful shift toward a cloud-centric business model, underscored by a 25% increase in current cloud backlog (€21.9 billion) and a 27% jump in cloud revenue at constant currencies. While traditional software license revenue fell 37% as customers transitioned to the cloud, the company's profitability remained robust, with non-IFRS operating profit rising 24% and margins expanding to 30.0%. This performance was bolstered by significant momentum in Business AI, which CEO Christian Klein identified as a primary driver for market share gains. Strategically, SAP strengthened its data capabilities by agreeing to acquire Reltio and simplified its leadership by forming the new Customer Value Group. Financially, the company proved its commitment to shareholders by completing a €2.6 billion share repurchase tranche and proposing a 6.4% dividend increase, even as it cleared a major legal hurdle by settling the Teradata litigation for €408 million.



Looking ahead, SAP reaffirmed its full-year 2026 outlook, expecting cloud revenue to reach up to €26.2 billion, supported by disciplined cost management and a focus on AI-ready enterprise data.
