The US Dollar traded sideways against the Canadian Dollar, following the Canadian GDP data release on Thursday at 12:30 GMT. The USD/CAD exchange currency rate gained 3 pips or 0.02% after the release. The Greenback continued trading at the 1.3900 level against the Canadian Dollar after the release.
Statistics Canada released the Canadian GDP data, which came out worse-than-expected of 0.0% compared with the forecast of 0.2%.
According to the official release: "Following three months of growth, real GDP was essentially unchanged in February, as declines particularly in educational services, and disruptions in the transportation and warehousing sector stalled the economy. Excluding these two sectors, the economy would have grown 0.2%. Overall, 13 out of the 20 sectors increased in February."
