Comcast to Split into Two Independent Companies

Comcast is spinning off NBCUniversal and Sky into a separate, publicly traded media company to allow both businesses to focus on their unique growth strategies. 
  • Comcast will focus on its core connectivity business, including broadband and wireless networks. 
  • NBCUniversal will focus on media and entertainment, including film, TV, streaming, and theme parks. The tax-free separation is expected to be completed within one year. 
Shareholders will receive stock in both companies, and the split is designed to give each entity more agility in a changing industry.
