U.S. pending home sales rose more-than-expected in July

U.S.  pending home sales surged in July to a highest level since April 2010. The National Association of Realtors reported on Wednesday that seasonally adjusted index for pending sales of existing U.S. homes rose by 2.4 per cent in July from a month earlier to a reading of 101.7. In June, data had dropped by -1.4 per cent.

Asian markets lose, while Japan gains

Asian shares fell on Wednesday as a result of week steel outputs, while Japanese market went up on deal speculation. Japan's Nikkei Stock Average inched higher 0.2 per cent and South Korea's Kospi rose 0.6 per cent. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index and the Shanghai Composite Index declined by 0.1 per cent and 1 per cent, respectively.

Nikkei gains on U.S. proposal

Japanese shares went up on Wednesday on Renesas Electronics Corporation 35 per cent gain, which was supported by the information that private equity fund of United States, KKR & Co, is planing to invest $1.3 billion in the chipmaker. The Nikkei average climbed to 9,069.81, a 0.4 per cent increase.

Natural Gas droped on Hurricane Isaac news

Natural gas slid down in New York to its lowest price in a ten week period after concerns about possible damages from the storm were reduced. Natural gas futures for September delivery lost 1.3 cents, a 0.5 per cent decrease, to $2.601 per million British thermal units on the New York Mercantile Exchange's Comex division.

Loonie advances on U.S. GDP surge

Canada's currency rose to a four-month high versus the Greenback as the economy of its major trading partner expanded more than preliminary estimated in Q2. On Wednesday, Canadian Dollar advanced 0.1% to 98.73 cents per U.S. Dollar, after reaching 98.43 cents yesterday, the highest since May 3. One Loonie buys $1.01297.

Dollar climbs on housing data

The greenback inched higher comparing to the Yen on Wednesday on received data about U.S. home prices going up, reaching the highest level in two years period this July. The Dollar advanced to 78.70 yen, a 0.3 per cent increase, while the single European currency declined to $1.2519.

Denmark GDP decreases in Q2

Denmark's economy shrank at a faster-than-estimated pace in Q2, lead by decreases in investment and consumption, Statistics Denmark showed in preliminary data on Wednesday. GDP tumbled 0.5% on quarter, from a 0.3% increase in Q1 while economists forecast a 0.2% decline. GDP dropped 0.9% on year, widely exceeding economists' estimate of 0.2% fall.

Oil futures continue decline as U.S. inventories rise

Crude futures extended losses on Wednesday after a government report posted an unexpected 3.8 million barrels climb in stockpiles for the week through Aug. 24. Analysts estimated inventories to decline by 2 million barrels. October-delivery oil tumbled 1% to $95.36 per barrel in New York.

Italian retail sales gain 0.4% in June

Italian retail sales gained in June, while the result was unexpected, as the Eurozone's third biggest economy is in a recession. U.S. economy grew at revised 1.7% in Q2

The world's biggest economy expanded 1.7% in the second quarter from a reading of 1.5% in the first quarter, meeting analysts' estimates. Also in the report, made by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, personal consumption rose 1.7% instead of a prior reading of 1.5%, while imports added 2.9%, versus an initial estimate of 6.0%.

Gold futures flat after U.S. GDP data

Gold futures were little changed on Wednesday, August 29, after data indicated that the U.S. economy expanded more than expected in the second quarter.  Bullion inched 0.01 per cent lower to $1,667.55 per troy ounce.  Other precious metals also were flat, with silver and copper for December settlement losing 0.01 per cent and 0.35 per cent, respectively.

German HICP climbs in August

Germany's HICP inflation rose more-than-expected in August, Destatis posted preliminary data on Wednesday. The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices surged 2.2% on year, after a 1.9% rise in July. Analysts forecast an increase of 2%. The HICP posted 0.3% advance on month-on-month basis. The Consumer Price Index rose 2% on year in August, from 1.7% in previous month.

Treasuries decline after GDP, before Beige Book

Treasuries declined on Wednesday, after GDP rose more than preliminary data showed and before the release of the Fed's Beige Book, influencing further monetary policies. 10-year treasury yield advanced to 1.65%. 30-year note yields tumbled to 2.74%, while 5-year rate deteriorated to 0.67%.

Oil falls on Isaac, G-7 statement

Oil dropped from a one-week high and gasoline continued yesterday's fall as Hurricane Isaac struck a coast of Louisiana and the G-7 announced prices are likely to pressure the global economic recovery. Oil futures slid 0.9% and gasoline declined 1.3%. October-delivery crude slipped to $95.44 per barrel and traded at $95.62. October-settlement Brent oil fell 0.9% to $111.85 per barrel.

French business confidence holds near a 2-year low

French industrial confidence stayed near its two-year low in August, increasing weight on President Francois Hollande's government to rebound economic growth. Business sentiment index increased to 90, compared to downwardly revised reading of 89 in July, Insee reported on Wednesday. The reading matched economists' forecast.

Euro declines against Dollar on EU meetings
