Japanese shares dropped as the Yen kept appreciating against its 16 major counterparts and lowered the profit outlook for the exporters. The Nikkei 225 dropped 0.9% to 10,508.06. Only three out of ten groups in the benchmark index edged higher. Among the best performers were Unitika, Sharp Corporation and Nitto Boseki with their shares rallying 4.1%, 3.9% and 3.8%, respectively. Sharp advanced, as it launched its 32-inch AQUOS Ultra HD, a new TV model, and lifted the consumer services sector that edged 0.2% higher. Meanwhile, financials sector posted biggest losses by dropping 3%, followed by technology group that decreased 1.3%. The slump in financials was led by Aozora Bank Ltd that erased 4%. Alps Electric Co shares dropped 5.64%, the most in the index, to 485 yen, pacing gains in the technology shares. Furthermore, Tokuyama Corporation that slumped 5.56% and JFE Holdings loosing 5.51% added to losses in the industrials group.
