During the US election day, US stock indices surged. However, the surge was not a sudden move in the form of a asset price adjustment to new information. Namely, there were no surprises in the US Elections.
In the meantime, note that stock prices had recovered by almost five percent prior to the election, as the markets were preparing for certainty, as the turmoil of the elections would end.
Although, watch out for future surprises, as the ballot counting of the US Presidential Election has not been finished yet.
