European stocks fall amid persisting U.S. deadlock

European equities declined on Monday as the debt limit impasse widens after the U.S. President Barack Obama and House Republicans failed to raise the federal debt ceiling in order to avoid technical default of the country. Futures of benchmark index Euro Stoxx 50 with delivery in December slipped 0.3% to 2,953 as of 7:15 a.m. in London, while FTSE 100 Index decreased 0.2%.
