Natixis: Aluminum may average at USD 2,250 per ton this year

Aluminium prices are likely to face modest gains this year and average at USD 2,250 per ton in 2012, reported Natixis Commodity Markets Ltd. However, there may be downward pressure on prices in Q1 of 2012. Despite growing increase in aluminium demand, increasing production kept market in surplus last year, added Natixis. However, taken that many expensive production facilities are likely to be shut down, the market is set to approach a balance.
